A Pennsylvania company that makes 100% recyclable plastic food trays for the meat and produce industry will invest $24.9 million and create at least 80 jobs in Greensboro, according to an announcement from the state.
Clearly Clean Products will pay its employees in Guilford County an average wage of $59,006, although wages will vary by position. These new jobs could potentially create an annual payroll impact of more than $1.6 million for the region. The current average wage for workers in Guilford County is $58,843.
Headquartered in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, about 90 miles northwest of Philadelphia, Clearly Clean has a patented design on trays to prevent leakage, especially in transport. The company’s new Guilford County facility will nearly double its current production capacity to meet current and future demand of its poultry customers.
“We are excited to expand our operations into North Carolina and to become an involved local partner,” said Jimmy Herring, CEO of Clearly Clean, in a release from the state. “This new facility will allow us to increase our commitment to sustainability as we continue to expand the ability of our customers to participate in a nature-friendly circular economy. We look forward to contributing to the community and making Greensboro home.”
Clearly Clean has eight other facilities, three each in Orwigsburg and Frackville, Pennsylvania, one in South Windsor, Connecticut, and one in Naples, Florida.
A performance-based grant of $200,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, dependent on Clearly Clean’s $24.9 million capital investment, will help Clearly Clean locate in North Carolina.
