Police in Brooklyn are investigating the death of a man who was brutally stabbed to death in front of a cocktail bar, while another man was found injured, early Sunday morning.

According to law enforcement sources, officers from the 83rd Precinct responded to a 911 call of an assault in front of 1071 Broadway in Bushwick, where Marco’s on Broadway is located, just before 2 a.m. on April 26.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen and a slash across his face, and a 28-year-old man with a slashed left arm.

EMS rushed to the scene and brought both victims to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where the younger man, whom police identified as Amare Simmons of East 30th Street in Manhattan, was pronounced dead.

The victim’s address is listed as a men’s intake shelter at Bellevue, a homeless shelter that the city plans to close by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, the other victim, who was injured, was listed in stable condition at the hospital.

Police sources said two persons of interest were brought into custody, and a knife was recovered at the crime scene. Officials could not comment further at press time on a motive or if the victims knew their attackers, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding this stabbing can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential

The incident comes on the heels of another brutal stabbing in Brooklyn in which a man was stabbed to death following a late-night argument with a woman in Crown Heights on April 14.

Despite the recent fatality, murders are down in the 83rd Precinct 100% this year compared to 2025, according to the latest police statistics. The data, which runs through April 19, shows that four murders occurred in the precinct by this time in 2025, compared to zero this year during that period.

Meanwhile, overall major crime in the precinct, including rape and robbery, is up 37% year-to-date compared to the same time last year.
