The chief of Hamas’s smuggling operations was killed in an airstrike conducted by the IDF and Shin Bet in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Tuesday.

According to the IDF, Yahya Fathi Abd al-Qader Abu Shaar had been actively involved in smuggling weapons and military equipment for Hamas, including during the terror group’s attack on October 7, 2023.

Footage released by the IDF on April 17, 2025, captures the moment of the strike targeting Abu Shaar in Khan Younis.

The military also confirmed another recent strike in Khan Younis that eliminated Mazen Ibraheem Mahfouz Farah, a senior member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, responsible for orchestrating major terror attacks in Israel, particularly in recent months.

In both operations, the IDF emphasized its extensive efforts to minimize civilian casualties, including employing precision-guided munitions, aerial reconnaissance, and detailed intelligence.

Additionally, the IDF reported striking approximately 110 targets in Gaza over the past two days. These targets included terrorist cells and infrastructure affiliated with Hamas and other terror groups. Notably, a Hamas naval force building in central Gaza’s Nuseirat, which was reportedly used to plan attacks against Israel, was also targeted.
