It’s been a long, cold post-election week. Literally and, in the past couple of days, figuratively. And while the climate both outdoors and on the timeline is unlikely to change for a while, it is possible to look away. Which is why, as always, we’ve compiled a list of the best things happening in Brooklyn over the weekend.
Kacey Musgraves headlines at Barclays Center on Friday and Saturday nights, with openers Lord Huron and Nickel Creek. Gabriel Iglesias, meanwhile, hits the stage at Kings Theater, while the Brooklyn Tequila Fest comes to Industry City on Saturday and Sunday, bringing with it over 100 styles of tequila, mezcal, and more.

Black Narrative at the Billie Holiday Theatre

The Billie Holiday Theatre is launching its Black Narrative Theater Series this weekend. The initiative features award-winning actor, singer, and writer Daniel Koa Beaty’s highly acclaimed one-person show, Love Warrior, about the power of the human spirit. Nutcracker Rouge 15th Anniversary Season

Company XIV returns this weekend with the city’s best burlesque performers for the 15th anniversary season of Nutcracker Rouge. This year’s production features Pepper Solana in her Company XIV debut as Drosselmeyer, the Katen twins as a tap-dancing Banana Split, Donna Carnow swinging from a pole as Cotton Candy, and Troy Lingelbach soaring over guests as Turkish Delight on the trapeze. 383 Troutman St. Ticket prices vary.
Kacey Musgraves at Barclays Center

It’s been a big year for Kacey Musgraves, and this weekend she brings her Deeper Well World Tour—in support of her eponymous album—to Barclays Center, with guests Lord Huron and Nickel Creek. 620 Atlantic Ave. Tickets begin at $94.
Brooklyn Silent Film Fest 2024
8 p.m.
On Friday, the second annual Brooklyn Silent Film Festival comes to Greenpoint’s 100 Sutton Event space. The one-night fest pairs eight new silent short films with music from eight up-and-coming musicians, bands, and composers who will perform original scores during the screenings. Gabriel Iglesias’ Don’t Worry Be Fluffy Tour
8 p.m.
Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, the second-highest-grossing touring comedian alive and one of the most watched on YouTube, touches down at Kings Theatre in Flatbush on Friday night as part of the New York Comedy Festival. 1027 Flatbush Ave. Tickets begin at $55.

Brooklyn Tequila Fest
Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.

Coney Island History Show & Tell

Join the historical fun on Saturday for Coney Island History Show & Tell, a nostalgic interactive event presented by the Coney Island History Project at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Coney Island branch. Do you have artifacts, personal or otherwise, connected to the neighborhood? Bring them and tell your story (or come by and listen to other people’s stories). 1901 Mermaid Avenue at W. 19th St. Free.
‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’
Performances at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
If you know the Miles Morales Spider-Man movies, you know their soundtracks. Now you can experience the Across the Spider-Verse score in person, at two performances this Saturday. You’ll watch the movie on a giant HD screen while an ensemble of musicians plays the the film’s score and soundtrack. 1027 Flatbush Ave. Tickets begin at $49.
The 3rd Annual Turkey Slamdown
7:30 p.m.
All proceeds from the Turkey Slamdown at TV EYE go to Make the Road, a local organization supporting working-class and immigrant New Yorkers. Hosted by My Son the Doctor and Bands Do BK, the night features five local bands, tattoo artists, and a late-night party with DJ Sam Rich. Exploring Brooklyn Heights: Authors, Abolitionism, and Amazing Views

“Good Luck, Babe!” One-Day Choir
3:30 p.m.
Join Gaia Music Collective’s One-Day Choir on Sunday for the opportunity to sing in a choir for, as its name suggests, one day only. You’ll explore love and queerness through a choral arrangement of Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” 1139 Bushwick Ave. Entry is a sliding scale of $15 to $35 ($25 suggested donation).
Good Room’s 10th Anniversary Weekend Party
6 p.m.

Rage Against Medical Debt
7 p.m.
If you have medical bet, it’s safe to assume you’re not happy about it. Neither are Ian Goldstein, Diana Aydin, Ali Levin, and the Debt Collective, who this Sunday at Brooklyn Art Haus will bring out a slew of performers who will share their own stories of medical debt as comedically as they can. 20-26 Marcy Ave. Tickets are $15.
