Spotify announced a new partnership that will add more than 1,000 new audiobooks to its library.
The Swedish streaming platform is partnering with Bloomsbury, one of the largest publishers in the United Kingdom, to bring titles such as Want, the recent number-one bestselling title collected by Gillian Anderson.
Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of audiobook partnerships and licensing, announced the partnership on the one-year anniversary of adding audiobooks to Premium. The catalog is expanded with “an array of stellar titles from acclaimed authors,” including Sarah J. Maas, William Dalrymple, Alan Moore, Madeline Miller, Dan Jones, Samantha Shannon, and Ann Patchett.
These authors’ titles are paired with narrations from top-tier talent such as Meryl Streep, Emilia Clarke, Adjoa Andoh, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Sam Halstead, Director of Audio at Bloomsbury, added that this partnership brings authors and narrators to as many listeners as possible.
Spotify added that since launching audiobooks, the company has paid “hundreds of millions of dollars to publishers” on an annualized basis.
