Originally calling Charleston and Columbia home, seven facilities later, South Carolina Research Authority added Greenville to its line-up of sites, according to an SCRA news release.

The organization this month held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the new office at 411 University Ridge, according to its website.

The statewide organization has facilities in Charleston, Summerville, Columbia and Anderson, according to their website.

Being in the “heart of downtown,” will help SCRA “collaborate to help tech startups grow, support academic research and development, and meet the needs of the state’s industries,” a news release said. SCRA intends to increase higher-paying jobs through their startup support.

SCRA is a public, nonprofit company which “fuels the state’s innovation economy,” through helping technology-based startups, academia and industry, the release stated. The organization offers both funding and support.

According to the release, SCRA member companies and SC Launch Inc. portfolio companies in the Greenville area now have a local SCRA office offering nearby support for startups.

SC Launch Inc. is SCRA’s investment affiliate which works with funding from venture capital firms, strategic investors, angel investment groups, individual investors and private equity firms to help fuel the economy, according to the SCRA’s website.

The new location also offers free conference rooms and meeting space for the member and portfolio companies, according to the release. Additionally, SCRA offers members discounts on services such as health insurance, web and database, legal and accounting services.
