For years Beef ‘O’ Brady’s has had an outpost on Hard Scrabble Road, in the high-growth northeast area of Columbia. Now its parent franchisor is looking to open 15 more of its family-friendly sports pubs throughout the state, adding to its current lineup of 134 in 15 states.
Beef ‘O’ Brady’s is a brand of FSC Franchise Co. of Tampa, Fla., which also owns The Brass Tap and Newk’s Eatery. Its menu ranges from wings and salads to choice-cut sirloin and chopped Angus steak, plus bowls, burgers, surf and turf, chicken and more to consume with cocktails, wines, beer, sangria and “boozy” lemonades and Coke products. There also are daily specials, lunchtime “value combos,” and a list of “gluten-friendly” items.
“Beef ‘O’ Brady’s does really well in suburban markets and in small towns, and there are a lot of those places in (South Carolina),” CEO Chris Elliott said in an email. “The market fits our customer base and profile.”

The first Beef ‘O’ Brady’s opened in Bradon, Fla., in 1985.
Casey Gladders owns the Hard Scrabble Road Beef ‘O’ Brady’s franchise; according to Elliott. All the projected South Carolina stores will be franchises as well. He is particularly interested in seeing new outposts in Oakland, Mulberry, Orangeburg, Summerville and Walterboro, in keeping with the target demographics of Boomers, Gen X, Millennials and families in general.
South Carolina’s Census Bureau stats for 2010–2022 show the most growth in the 65-and-older segment, which increased from 13.7% to 19.1% and the greatest decline in the under-4 segment, which decreased from 6.5% to 5.4%.
Going forward, Elliott expects to add roughly five Beef ‘O’ Brady’s locations per year.
